3. Royal Gorge Bridge, Colorado

Completed in 1929, it stretches 1,260 feet (384 meters) across the chasm. Timber planks and steel cables grant thrilling views far below. For height wary visitors, the exposed deck is a true test. The Royal Gorge Bridge & Park has added a visitor center, gondolas, and zip lines. After a major 2013 fire, the park was rebuilt, the bridge preserved as the star, its integrity ensured.
