Baking soda is also an excellent tool for oral hygiene. Studies show that toothpaste containing baking soda removes plaque and whitens teeth more effectively than toothpaste without it. But you don’t need to buy special toothpaste to get these benefits. You can dip your toothbrush in a mix of water and baking soda before brushing. Baking soda also makes a great mouthwash, thanks to its strong antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Just use half a glass of water and a teaspoon of baking soda, swish it in your mouth, and spit it out like regular mouthwash. This mixture helps clean hard-to-reach spots around and between your teeth that brushing alone might miss.
